Why doesn’t my husband want to have sex with me anymore?Dear Sex Doc, My husband doesn’t want to have sex with me anymore. What’s wrong with me? He's Never Horny Dear He's Never Horny, This is most likely not about you at all. There could be a number of things contributing to your husband’s disinterest in sex, but he is most likely suffering from lack of sexual desire. You should have a conversation with him about how he is feeling. First of all, explain to your husband that he is not alone. A large American study by Laumann et al. (1999) found that 14% of men had suffered from lowered sexual desire in the past year. Have a discussion with your man and let him know that there can be many factors contributing to his lower sex drive including; medications (especially antidepressants and antihypertensives), drop in testosterone levels, alcohol consumption, stress, and lack of sleep. It is best not to judge him, place blame, or question his manhood. Work with your husband to remove any barriers that are affecting his sex life. If the problem persists (and if it remains a problem for him and/or you) consult with a doctor or sex therapist. Best regards, Dr. Brian ParkerThis article was published on Saturday 10 May, 2008. |
